TVET Colleges Qualification And Requirement
These colleges are designed to fulfil the demands of sectors in the current labour market and offer a vital alternative to traditional academic courses. To get entrance to a TVET institution and pursue a certificate, students must fulfil specific requirements and conditions. Below are the general requirements of TVET Colleges;
- The minimum requirement is a successful Grade 9, but even better is successful Grade 10, 11 and Grade 12.
- A year-end school report for Grade 9 or higher; or
- An NQF Level 1 Qualification; or
- ABET Level 4
- A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment to meet the basic requirement for access to NQF Level 2
Required Document To Apply To TVET Colleges
Applying to TVET Colleges requires supporting documents. The following documents are required of all applicants;
- Birth Certificate/Identity Document (Proof of application for new ID/Passport)
- Certificates/Qualifications
- Recent Academic results
- Municipal billing document/other account statements (not older than 3 months)
- A valid study permit (Foreign national students)
- The South African Qualification Authority’s (SAQA) Evaluation Certificate (foreign qualifications).

How To Apply For TVET Colleges
TVET Colleges applications must be done online on the official website of the college. The online application portal opens annually from April and closes on November 30. Therefore, all applications must be submitted before the closing date. To apply online follow the procedure outlined below:
Step 1: Get your application from the college of your choice website
Visit the official website of the college of your choice to download the online application form. The application form is available on the official website of the TVET college of your choice.
Step 2: Complete your application form in full
Provide the required information on the application form. Complete the application form with the correct and accurate information.
Provide your e-mail, ID and cell phone number. Your ID, e-mail and cell phone is used to authenticate you.
Step 3: Attach all supporting documents.
Upload and support certified copies of supporting documents. All documents must either be certified copies or original copies.
Step 4: Submit your application
A confirmation email will be sent to you with all the application information after applying.
