Technical Vocational Education And Training; What are TVET courses
Technical and vocational education and training(TVET) refers to a type of education that focuses on equipping learners with practical skills, information, and competencies that are directly transferable to certain industries and jobs. Unlike traditional academic education, which focuses on theoretical learning, TVET programmes are meant to provide students with the practical skills they need to enter the industry or start their businesses. TVET programmes include mechanics, construction, healthcare, agriculture, hospitality, information technology, manufacturing, and other sectors and industries. Typically, these programmes are available through vocational schools, community colleges, technical institutes, apprenticeships, and even online platforms.
Technical and vocational education and training (TVET), as part of lifelong learning, can take place at secondary,post-secondary and tertiary levels and includes work-based learning and continuing training and professional development which may lead to qualifications. TVET also includes a wide range of skills development opportunities attuned to national and local contexts. Learning to learn, the development of literacy and numeracy skills, transversal skills and citizenship skills are integral components of TVET.
