Public TVET Colleges In South Africa

Why Choose Public TVET Colleges in South Africa:

South Africa is home to 50 registered and accredited public TVET colleges, operating across approximately 364 campuses located in both urban and rural areas. These colleges were established and are governed under the Continuing Education and Training Act 16 of 2006, with oversight provided by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Public TVET colleges receive an annual state grant of approximately R8 billion to support their operations.

Each region is served by a DHET regional office, which provides professional guidance and support to public TVET colleges. It’s important to note that DHET regional offices are distinct from district offices, which are responsible for overseeing school education under the Ministry of Basic Education. By providing a diverse range of vocational and technical programs, public TVET colleges contribute considerably to South Africa’s workforce development.

Public TVET colleges are ideal for school leavers, professionals looking to upskill, or individuals wanting to pursue a trade or technical career. From artisan training to diplomas in fields like business management, these institutions offer a diverse range of programs to meet the needs of students across South Africa.
