Public TVET Colleges In KZN

KwaZulu-Natal also referred to as KZN and known as “the garden province” iKwaZulu-Natali; Xhosa: KwaZulu-Natala; Afrikaans: KwaZoeloe-Natal) is a province of South Africa that was created in 1994 when the Zulu bantustan of KwaZulu (“Place of the Zulu” in Zulu) and Natal Province was merged. It is located in the southeast of the country, with a long shoreline on the Indian Ocean and sharing borders with three other provinces and the countries of Mozambique, Eswatini and Lesotho. Its capital is Pietermaritzburg, and its largest city is Durban. It is the second-most populous province in South Africa, with slightly fewer residents than Gauteng.

Two areas in KwaZulu-Natal have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park. These areas are extremely scenic as well as important to the surrounding ecosystems. KwaZulu-Natal has nine TVET colleges in their province, namely ;

Public TVET Colleges In KZN Admission Requirement

Prospective learners must meet specific requirements to guarantee they are prepared for the rigours of their chosen programmes to obtain admission to these schools. The following are the standard entrance requirements for KZN public TVET colleges:

  • The minimum requirement is a successful Grade 9, but even better is successful Grade 10, 11 and Grade 12.
  • A year-end school report for Grade 9 or higher; or
  • An NQF Level 1 Qualification; or
  • ABET Level 4
  • A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment to meet the basic requirement for access to NQF Level 2

Required Document Necessary To Apply To Public TVET Colleges In KZN

Before applying to TVET Colleges you must provide the following documents;

  • Birth Certificate/Identity Document (Proof of application for new ID/Passport)
  • Certificates/Qualifications
  • Recent Academic results
  • Municipal billing document/other account statements (not older than 3 months)
  • A valid study permit (Foreign national students)
  • The South African Qualification Authority’s (SAQA) Evaluation Certificate (foreign qualifications).
