There are about fifty (50) registered public colleges in South Africa and 300 registered private colleges in South Africa. These colleges provide students with an education that prepares them for work. FET colleges are a subset of TVET colleges that provide higher education and training. They offer vocational and occupational programmes to students to prepare them for specialised jobs. These colleges play an important role in resolving labour-market skill shortages and helping to reduce unemployment.
Some South African colleges focus on specialised areas of study or requirements of industry. Some colleges specialise in creative arts, film and media production, music, and other specialised subjects, for example. These schools offer education and training that caters to the needs of their particular industry.

Colleges South Africa General Requirement
Academic requirements differ based on the degree of education you want to pursue in South Africa. However, the general requirements are;
A National Senior Certificate is required for admission to the Bachelor’s degree program (NSC). The Matriculation Board on behalf of HESA issues a certificate of exemption from the matriculation endorsement requirement, or a university of technology issues a conditional admission certificate.
A Bachelor’s degree or honours degree in the relevant discipline, as well as outstanding academic achievements, are the minimum entry requirements for the Master’s degree.
A Master’s degree or an equivalent degree from a professional institution is the minimum entry criterion for the Doctorate Degree.
